Flood Relief Update
Church Family,
I'd like to update you on our church's response to the recent floods in our region. We are in the early stages of planning a coordinated effort, not only within our church, but with other United Methodist churches in our region. We are members of the Horizon Texas Conference, and our conference has a Disaster Relief coordinator named Jeremy Bassett who assists in these types of situations. We have been in communication with Jeremy the past couple of days and he is visiting our area this week to begin coordinated efforts among the churches. In particular, Jeremy will be meeting with lay representatives from Salado UMC, FUMC Georgetown, and our church to begin the conversation of working together in the short and long-term in recovery efforts.
The best thing we can do at this point is pray for all involved and take a measured, coordinated approach to helping those in need. We will communicate to you and your groups specific ways you can assist in the recovery efforts moving forward. Obviously, one of the most immediate ways to help right now is giving online to UMCOR at fumc-rr.org/give or by texting FIRSTLOVE to 44321.
Thank you for your prayers and patience as we seek to maximize our impact. We will update you each step of the way in this process as our mission team works with Jeremy and the other churches. As always, our church will step forward in a spirit of generosity and love. Please continue to pray for all affected by the floods, especially those who have lost loved ones.
In Christ,
Brad
